Privacy Policy — UnlockAI
Last updated: 9 October 2026
UnlockAI is made by Worldwide Services II, LLC ("we", "us"), a California limited liability company.
UnlockAI does not sell your personal information, and there are no analytics, ads or third-party tracking in the app. We run no servers and have no access to anything you create in the app. Two things can leave your device, and only if you switch them on: the Accountability clip, which goes only to the Friends & Family group you choose; and your Community posts (a handle, an avatar and challenge stats, never photos or clips). Both travel through Apple's iCloud.
Camera
UnlockAI uses the front camera to check that you have completed an exercise.
- Every frame is analysed on your device, in real time.
- The last second or so of frames is held in memory only, so that if you've turned on Accountability it can be posted to your group when you finish a challenge. It is discarded when you leave the challenge.
- If you switch on "Save proof clips" in Settings, clips are written to your device only, excluded from backups, and deleted automatically after the retention period you choose. You can delete them all at any time in Settings.
Nothing from the camera leaves your device unless you turn on Accountability, and then only to your group. The app has no way to send or export clips anywhere else.
Accountability and Friends & Family groups
Accountability (Share Challenges with Group in Settings) is off by default and turns on only after you agree to it on a screen that explains exactly what is shared.
When it is on and you are in a group, each challenge you finish is posted to that group:
- What: a one-second video clip and a still photo of you doing the challenge, both stamped with the UnlockAI logo; the challenge type; the time; and the display name you chose.
- Who can see it: only the people in your group (up to six), who join by an invite link the group's creator sends them. It is never public.
- Where it's stored: in the group creator's iCloud, using Apple's CloudKit. It is not stored on any server of ours, and we cannot see it.
- How long: posts disappear from the feed after 24 hours and are deleted from iCloud the next time the poster or the group's creator opens the app. You can delete your own posts at any time; the group's creator can delete any post. When a creator deletes the group, everything in it is deleted.
- Safety: anyone in the group can report a post (which hides it for them and flags it to the creator) or hide a member. If you have Sensitive Content Warning switched on in iOS Settings, Apple's on-device analysis blurs flagged images and stops a flagged moment from being posted. This analysis happens on your device; nothing is sent to us or to Apple.
- Turning it off: in Settings. Like other rules you loosen, this takes effect after a short delay.
Your group's members also see your display name, whether you have Accountability on, and whether you are the creator.
The Community
The Community (Share Challenges with Community in Settings) is off by default. If you join, you choose a public handle and a preset avatar; your name is never shown.
- What everyone on UnlockAI can see: your handle and avatar, and for each challenge you finish: which challenge, your reps or hold time, how long you stayed off your locked apps before it, your streak, and your streak goal. Posts disappear from the feed after 24 hours.
- Never shared: your name, photos, clips, which apps you lock, or any Screen Time data. "Time off" and streaks are worked out from UnlockAI's own record of when you unlocked, not from Screen Time.
- Where it's stored: Apple's iCloud public database for UnlockAI. We can see and remove Community records, to act on reports.
- Handles go live as soon as you choose one. A word filter on your iPhone blocks obviously offensive ones as you type. UnlockAI may remove any handle, and its posts, that is offensive or breaks the community rules.
- Reports: you can report a post or hide a handle. Reports go only to us, and handles that break the rules are removed.
- Deleting: Settings → Community → Delete community profile removes your handle and all your posts.
Screen Time data
UnlockAI uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) to shield apps and to show you a usage summary.
Apple's design prevents this data from being readable by us: your usage statistics are rendered inside a sandboxed system extension that has no network access and cannot pass data back to the app. We never see which apps you use or for how long, and none of it is shared with your group.
What is stored on your device
- Your settings: which apps to shield, schedules, difficulty, cooldowns.
- Your own activity history: unlocks, challenge attempts, repetitions, and times.
- If you use groups: your display name, a random identifier for this install, members you've hidden, and posts waiting to upload.
This stays on your device and in a shared container used by the app's own extensions.
Purchases
Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We do not receive or store your payment details. If you are covered by someone else's Friends & Family plan, the group's creator's app shares only the date their plan ends, so your app knows you're covered.
Notifications
UnlockAI sends local notifications from your device — for example, to open a challenge when you tap a shield. They are generated on your device and are not sent through any server.
Children
UnlockAI is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a revised date above.
